The running and chasing, I’ve done both!
First I was the chaser, after we met 35yrs ago, we had a short intense relationship, too intense for him…he ran! We were teenagers at the time and I obviously was completely oblivious to the soul/twin flame thing, I was in so much pain, it’s so cliche but I was listening to air supply constantly, I didn’t understand what I was feeling! I would see him literally everywhere, and when I say he was the runner, it wasn’t just metaphorical, there were a few instances where he literally ran from me, hiding behind cars.
This many years later I finding kinda funny! I don’t remember how I moved out of that pain, I had every distraction available to me. I finally met my soulmate/partner and entered into a relationship, and that’s when my TF started chasing, and I ran, would not talk to him, etc. But as the runner and in a relationship not with my TF I can say, I thought about him constantly, dreaming about him, fantasizing about him, trying by to find information on what he was doing, knowing I wouldn’t act on it! His presence in my subconscious lost the painful aspect and became a kind of security blanket.
Flash forward to present day, we are in separation but communicating and being honest about our relationship, he has told me that he ran initially because of the intensity of the feelings, processing that as a teenager was scary, but he says he knew at the first time we were intimate that I was his soulmate. And now talking to him again I’ve learned that his experience was similar, the dreams and intrusive thoughts, fantasies, online searches for me, (our lives took us far away from each other geographically).
So I believe everyone in separation hurts. The runners pain is similar to the chasers pain, two sides, same coin. After a while it just gets less acute, sort like the grieving process.
Love to all who are feeling it right now!
