A Good Twin Flame Tarot Spread?

I started practicing the Tarot and I tried a few love readings but I wondered if anyone could suggest a good twin flame spread for me to try. I really like the readings that Danielle and Carla do but I don’t think they use a set layout but they probably have a lot more experience than I do.

Thanks!

You can do a simple 3-card reading with the twin flame oracle deck here.

Or if you’re going to use physical cards, I personally like the way Danielle does it, but if you want a framework layout:

A 5-card spread is probably your best starting point. Not too many cards where it loses all meaning but enough space to get into it and not putting too much pressure on too few cards.

I arrange mine in a cross pattern: your current state at the bottom, their state on the left, the core issue in the center, divine guidance at top, and the path forward on right. It’s manageable without being too simple, and you get enough information to actually work with.

One thing I’ll mention since you’re just starting out - try to avoid asking “when will we reunite” type questions.

The cards are better at showing you what needs healing and where to focus your energy right now. I spent way too long doing reunion timeline readings early on and it just kept me stuck in waiting mode instead of doing my actual work.

Pay attention when you get multiple Major Arcana cards. That’s usually confirmation you’re dealing with something significant. The Lovers obviously, but also watch for The Devil (shadow work time), The Tower (necessary upheaval), or Temperance (divine timing and balance). Those cards hit different in twin flame context than regular relationship readings.

Start with three cards if five feels like too much. Past-present-future works fine, or you-connection-them. Build your comfort level before going bigger. The more complex spreads just confuse things when you’re learning to trust your intuition with the cards.

Danielle and Carla probably don’t use fixed layouts because they’re reading intuitively after years of practice. They can pull cards based on what they’re picking up energetically rather than needing a structure. You’ll get there eventually, but definitely start with set positions while you’re learning.

Your deck doesn’t need to be “twin flame specific.” That’s just marketing. Any deck you feel drawn to will work. I use a regular Rider-Waite because the imagery is clear, and I have built a relationship with it over time. Trust what calls to you instead of what someone’s trying to sell.

The other thing about twin flame readings - they should make you feel empowered to do your inner work, not desperate for validation about the other person. If you find yourself doing reading after reading on the same question… that’s usually a sign to step back and focus on yourself for a bit. The cards can become addictive when you’re in separation, and I’ve seen people (including myself at one point) use them as a crutch instead of actually healing.

The journey stages are important to understand because different cards show up at different phases. Recognition and union phases, you’ll see The Sun, The Lovers, Two of Cups, Four of Wands - all that celebratory energy.

But when you hit the crisis stage or runner-chaser dynamic, suddenly you’re pulling The Tower, The Devil, Eight of Swords, The Hanged Man.

Eight of Swords specifically shows up a lot for chasers because it represents that mental prison we put ourselves in. When I pulled it repeatedly during separation, it was basically screaming at me to stop chasing and choose myself instead. Same with The Hanged Man - surrender and perspective shift.

Watch out for cards like The Devil, they’re not just negative in this context. It’s showing you the shadow aspects you need to integrate, the parts of yourself you’re seeing mirrored in them. Uncomfortable but necessary growth. Don’t stress if you’re pulling difficult cards right now. The “problem” is actually the lesson in twin flame work.

When I first started doing twin flame readings for myself, keeping it simple worked better than complicated spreads. I focus on just a few core questions. I was comfortable with Tarot readings in general, but I think just being able to honestly read about the journey is a skill in itself.

When you’re doing something like this, trying to do a reading for yourself is sooooo emotionally charged that it can be easy for bias to slip in. So if you mean for yourself… I would consider getting readings done by someone else. I think even more experienced readers wouldn’t do personal spreads for themselves like this.

If you’re still going to do it then instead of laying out tons of cards trying to predict when or what’s happening with the other person, I ask things that bring me back to my experience. Where I need to focus my energy right now, what patterns I’m being called to heal, stuff like that. I know it’s tempting to want specific spreads that tell us about union timing or what they’re thinking (trust me, I’ve been there!), but I get more out of readings when I redirect inward.

Simple questions have given me way more clarity than any elaborate spread ever did. You might find that as you practice more, you’ll develop your own intuitive approach too.

I’ve been working with tarot for my twin flame process for a while now, and the spreads that help me most are the ones that focus inward rather than obsessing over union timing or what they’re thinking. I don’t think there is anything wrong with using readings that show how your twin is doing on the path, but sparingly, and I do agree, I wouldn’t do it for myself.

Here’s what I use when I need clarity: a 5 card spread.

  • Position 1 is where you are now on your path.

  • Position 2 reveals what blocks you’re meant to clear.

  • Position 3 shows the lesson your twin is mirroring back to you.

  • Position 4 highlights your next step in personal growth.

  • Position 5 represents your highest potential in this connection.

Every single position brings it back to your own process and your ascension. The twin flame connection seems to be less about getting them back or forcing union, and more about working on yourself. When you read the cards that way, you get different answers.

Carla and Danielle probably don’t use rigid spreads because they’ve learned to let spirit guide them, but starting with a structure like this helped me develop that intuitive flow.

When my twin and I were planning our healing center, I made a 7-card spread for understanding our joint purpose: cards 1-2 represent individual soul gifts, 3-4 show what wounds we’re meant to heal in others, card 5 reveals the collective shadow we’re transforming, and 6-7 indicate the timeline and practical steps.

The most meaningful reading came when we both pulled the Eight of Pentacles in our individual positions-it confirmed we needed to master our respective healing modalities separately before combining them. I put a selenite crystal on top of the mission-related cards while shuffling, which really helps with clarity around divine purpose. Especially when you’re trying to figure out if something’s actually a soul contract or just ego desires.

Try using oracle cards with your tarot for twin flame readings. I use the Sacred Rebels deck for the masculine energy position and the Work Your Light deck for feminine energy aspects, which adds some extra layers to regular spreads.

For timing questions, I’ve had pretty good accuracy using the court cards as seasonal markers instead of moon phases. Pages=spring/new beginnings, Knights=summer/action phase, Queens=autumn/harvest, Kings=winter/integration. Then I combine that with the numerology of other cards for specific months or weeks.

One thing that’s helped me - shuffle your deck with your non-dominant hand when asking about their energy or feelings. It taps into your intuitive side rather than your projective one, and I find it cuts down on wishful thinking when you’re interpreting the cards.

Combinations matter a lot in twin flame spreads. When I see the Lovers with Two of Cups, or the Four of Wands (some people call it the twin flame card), I pull clarifiers because one more card can shift the whole meaning. I learned a lot from ‘Tarot for Your Self’ by Mary K. Greer. It helped me trust my gut when multiple Major Arcana cards show up together, since they usually point to that deep soul union stuff.

I’d recommend starting with a simple 3-card spread: where you are now, where your twin is energetically, and what the collective energy between you needs. Simple, but it works. Once you get comfortable reading the cards intuitively like Danielle and Carla do, you’ll probably start pulling additional cards when something feels like it needs more depth. I don’t really stick to rigid positions anymore.

My readings got more accurate once I stopped overthinking the spread layout and just let the cards speak to the specific situation.

I’ve had good results using a signifier card first (like Judgment or The World) to set the intention before pulling the actual spread. It seems to help focus the reading on that higher connection rather than just regular relationship stuff.

Then I usually do a simple three-card pull for qualities or lessons, though I modify the questions every time depending on what’s going on with my journey. The timing technique with the three piles is interesting, but I’m never quite sure how literally to take those results.

IMO you should pay attention to The Star and The Sun when they show up-those are huge for divine guidance and clarity in the connection. The Hierophant can also indicate sacred union or spiritual marriage, which has more to do with the spiritual bond than karmic lessons.

Just pull cards until you see what you want to see, right? Kidding.

But I’d try reading with moon phases for timing instead of the pile method. New moon for new beginnings in the connection, full moon for manifestation or reunion.

I mean, trust what feels right to you over what any book says. The cards are personal.

I am hoping someone can give me a clue about these cards. this morning has been great. I have been doing a lot of work healing and felt I have finished. I wasn’t sure but then I received undeniable signs confirming that. Then I get the strongest feeling that my twin was done and finally has chosen us. So I get these tarot cards I bought. I was thinking about trying it but so far all I have done was shuffle them. I decide to ask the question am I right in thinking that he chose us I start shuffling and ten cards fell out I picked them up and this is the order they ended up in. the sun, the lovers, ace of wands, two of wands, three of wands, seven of swords, page of pentacles, knight of cups, the hierophant and the fool maybe someone can read them because I wouldn’t know where to begin.
