Feelings of Twin Flame Runners?

What does the twin flame runner feel when they’re going through separation?

I don’t mean on a moment-to-moment like “do they think of me” way… I mean, on a high level. Do they think about the journey, or are they called to follow their spiritual path more? Do they feel all these weird energies and synchs that the chaser goes through?

From what I’ve seen over the years, the runner is usually trying to stuff everything down and pretend it’s not happening because they’re full of anxiety and fear. They’re confused, disoriented, anxious, hurt, lonely, and overwhelmed all at once. A lot of them (possibly even all or most) can’t even name what’s going on. I think in some cases they’re not even aware enough to know that there’s something big, and they manage to just constantly stick their head in the sand. Usually by keeping themselves distracted and that can lead to some… strange life choices on their part.

The regret is real and doesn’t just show up at the end. They might be regretting it at every step. There’s guilt for the pain they’re causing you, guilt for what they’re doing to themselves, and the feeling that they can’t fix any of it. Runners are often plagued by the thought that you might move on, even after they left. No, that’s not f-ing logical, but they are stuck with the illogical of it as well.

There are a couple of runners or ex-runners around who have shared their experiences. I do think if chasers took a moment to really try and understand what the runners go through it might make it a lot better for the collective as a whole. It sure isn’t one-sided, even when it feels that way.

They feel the energies, they just don’t always know what to make of them. From some of the stories I’ve heard, I think the runner might even be feeling the energy more than the chaser. I mean, that would explain why they become the runner.

The connection doesn’t disappear just because they’ve run. When you focus on your healing and pull back, they feel it on their end. It can trigger more awakening or make them dig deeper into denial, depending on where they’re at. Your inner work registers with them even with zero external signs.

Synchs work the same. Their higher self sends messages through them, whether they’re consciously picking up on it or not. As they grow, those get stronger and more frequent. Dreams often turn vivid too, with symbols or direct appearances of you. Early on, most runners shrug it off because facing it feels overwhelming. To you, the synchs and messages are reassurance. Signs that things are progressing and you are both working your way toward union. To your runner they can be frightening. They don’t know why these things keep showing up and it drives them crazy.

They might laugh about it later but it’s a lot to take in at the time when you are ready for it. So for them, they might think they’re going crazy.

The romantic and sexual pull intensifies the more they try to suppress it. A lot of those random rushes you’re feeling probably aren’t even coming from you. At the same time, their outer life tends to unravel in ways they can’t explain, like career stuff or relationships. The universe clears space while they’re not looking. That’s why it can look like their world’s falling apart while they insist everything’s fine.

Their spiritual awakening is happening whether they know it or not. It just doesn’t look like yours. I think that’s probably where the biggest disconnect comes from, both runner + chaser - we’re following the same path, but one goes right, and one goes left. Our path might converge, but our obstacles to get there can look very different.

That’s hard to accept when you feel how connected you’re supposed to be.

While the chaser often wakes up first, the runner goes through their own version during separation. It’s usually lonelier and more confusing for them. They don’t have the same framework, no books on twin flames or divine timing to explain what’s happening. To them, it feels like their life is falling apart and nothing fits anymore. Old habits stop working, and they lose that sense of control over their emotions.

From the outside, they might seem distant or unavailable. But really, they’re being forced inward, dealing with the reflection you showed them. Love is about facing oneself now, not possession. They end up revisiting old wounds and traumas, childhood issues and family patterns they never noticed before. It’s like a “cocoon phase”.

As for being called to a spiritual path, it’s not usually a conscious choice. Their intuition pushes them to stay away and keep the distance. It doesn’t mean they don’t care, it just feels necessary. They’re being called to solitude. They love you and don’t want to hurt you, but their path requires this separation. If it were up to them, they’d probably stay. Deep down, they know it’s for the best.

A lot of runners try to convince themselves it was all an illusion, until the pain of being apart becomes worse than the fear of coming back. Even if it looks like they’re rejecting everything, they’re slowly integrating the connection.

My belief (based on some experience from both sides) is that your runner has you on their mind (and likely talks to them) all day, just as much as the chasers do.

You’ve probably pictured his life without you in it. Quiet mornings, an empty phone, your name fading out of his days like a song from another room. Chasers often think that the runner is completely oblivious to the journey. The separation makes it easy to believe that when he removed you from his life, he removed you from his mind, too.

He didn’t, because he can’t.

There is a version of you living in your twin flame runner’s head, and he is with her constantly.

The connection doesn’t need your presence to keep running. That’s what makes it a twin flame connection rather than an “ordinary” relationship. When two people share one soul, distance changes the format, and that’s all it changes. You already know this from your side. You feel him in the car, in the shower, in the middle of a sentence at work. The waves arrive whether you invite them or not. Sometimes even at erminteresting moments.

It works exactly the same way in him. The only difference is what each of you does with it.

The Conversations He Doesn’t Tell Anyone About

Somewhere in his day, every day, he talks to you.

Not out loud, usually. It happens when something funny crosses his path and the first face his mind reaches for is yours. It happens when he’s stuck on a decision and catches himself asking what you’d say. It happens at night, in that unguarded stretch before sleep, when the version of you he carries sits down across from him and the conversation just… starts.

He argues with her sometimes. He explains himself to her. He tells her the things he never managed to say to the real you, and he hears her answer in your voice, because his soul knows your voice better than it knows almost anything.

This is one of the strangest parts of being a runner, and it’s the part he would never admit to. He left to get away from the intensity, and the intensity came with him. He can block a number. He cannot block the half of his own soul that speaks in your cadence.

Why This Happens to Runners Specifically

An ordinary ex fades. The memories soften, the inner voice goes quiet, and eventually the person becomes a photograph instead of a presence. That’s what he expected when he created the distance. He assumed you’d fade just like everyone before you.

This is what his understanding of the world has shown him so far. This is what friends and family tell him will happen. It’s what he sees in movies and TV shows. People just move on. Things get… quieter.

Instead, you got louder.

A twin flame runner runs because the connection delivers more than his nervous system can process at close range. The distance was supposed to turn the volume down. What he’s discovering is that the volume was never coming from your physical presence. It comes from the bond itself, and the bond lives inside him.

But he doesn’t even have the words to begin explaining this. He can’t explain to himself, let alone you or anyone else.

So he carries you into rooms you’ve never entered. You’re there when he hears a certain song. You’re there when someone asks how he’s doing and he says fine… just a beat too quickly. You’re there in the pause before he opens social media, and in the reason he sometimes just stares at his phone.

You haven’t been absent from his life for a single day of this separation. You’ve been the most consistent presence in it.

The Feeling of Being Visited

This also explains something from your side of the connection that can feel confusing in separation. Those moments when he arrives in your chest out of nowhere. The sudden warmth, the wave of emotion with his fingerprint on it, the sense that someone sat down next to you in an empty room.

Twin flames feel each other across any distance, and what you’re often picking up in those moments is him, spending time with his version of you. When he reaches for you inwardly, you register the reach. The conversation he’s having with you in his head lands in your body as a visit.

So the next time it happens, you can relax into it instead of questioning yourself. He was thinking of you at that moment, in the most literal sense. You felt it because you were built to feel it.

The runner’s mind is where the reunion gets built. Long before he texts, long before he shows up, he practices coming back to you in there, over and over, in a hundred small conversations you’ll never hear about. By the time he moves toward you in the physical, he’ll have already returned to you a thousand times.

Working on what triggers you during connection is the real work. It helps you actually receive the love being offered instead of retreating back to that familiar comfort zone. Running from connection usually comes from feeling overwhelmed by the intensity of growth being asked of you.

When we obsess over what they’re feeling, we create the energetic push that makes them run harder. We’re one system, so they feel that chase energy even without 3D contact.

I think if anyone tells you how they feel they are wasting your time. There is no other person on earth the same as your twin. None of us really. So I suggest you keep working on yourself and if you don’t get readings I say start now. Start here and listen to what you are bing told in order for you to progress. Then actually do it. You will also get tidbits of their journey. Grab what rings true if you know them. And hang on to those for dear life because you will need it down the road.

Just wanted to add, runners can feel relief first, then grief later. The delayed processing can look like indifference from the outside.

Sometimes you just feel off for no reason and can’t pin it down. Runners get that too, but they blame it on stress or whatever else is going on. I noticed they start craving quiet time alone more, even if they used to hate it. It’s like their system is sorting through stuff without them wanting to look at it directly.

In my lesbian twin flame relationship, I noticed her running was tangled up with things like being seen and family expectations, including what choosing lesbian love would mean publicly. Sometimes it was fear of the whole life her soul was asking her to step into, rather than just the bond itself.

Runners often develop these random new obsessions or hobbies during separation, like sudden intense career focus or throwing themselves into fitness. It’s a distraction mechanism. I’m currently working on journaling every morning to sort my own energy from his because I kept picking up moods that weren’t mine and spiraling. It’s been about 6 weeks and I can finally tell the difference now.

They still want you, they’re just scared too.

The fear of getting hurt makes runners avoid our feelings entirely, and then that avoidance comes across as rejection. Same confusion on our end too, wondering if our person even understands why we pull back in the first place.
